While walking along Minnehaha Creek in Minnetonka on Friday I was reminded that the most vivid greens of the year happen with the new growth of the spring season.
It was nice to see some splashes of sun on Sunday, when the official Twin Cities high was 71 degrees. That’s 5 degrees cooler than our average June 5 high in the metro area.
Temperature trends
Monday highs will be in the 60s in much of western and northern Minnesota, with lower 70s from the Twin Cities metro area into south-central and southeastern Minnesota:

Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to be in the lower 70s on Tuesday, then around 70 on Wednesday followed by lower 70s Thursday and Friday. We could see some upper 70s next Saturday.
The NWS Climate Prediction Center shows a slight tendency toward warmer than normal temps in southern and west-central Minnesota for the period from June 13 through June 19:
Rain chances in some areas Sunday evening and overnight
Parts of Iowa will see some strong to severe thunderstorms Sunday evening and overnight Sunday night. Periods of rain, with some embedded thunderstorms, are in the forecast for much of far southern Minnesota and southern Wisconsin for that same time period.
A few scattered showers and an isolated thunderstorm are possible in the Twin Cities metro area and west-central Wisconsin Sunday evening and overnight Sunday night. Patchy areas of showers are possible in central and northern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin as well.
There could be a few lingering showers early Monday morning in parts of southeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin. One forecast model shows a few showers moving into west-central Minnesota late Monday afternoon.

Rainy River Basin flooding
International Falls, Minnesota recorded its wettest meteorological spring (March through May) this year:
That precipitation total includes rain plus the water content of the more than 32 inches of snow that International Falls tallied this spring.
