South-central and southeastern Minnesota and southwestern Wisconsin have the best chance of showers this Sunday morning/early afternoon.
Here’s what happens after that. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern from noon Sunday to 11 p.m. Sunday:
The NAM model shows a batch showers spreading across far northern Minnesota this afternoon and evening. A large area of rain with some embedded t-storms is expected to move into southwestern Minnesota toward mid-afternoon then spread across southern Minnesota during the late afternoon and evening hours. Heaviest rain later today and tonight is expected along and south of I-90….some spots there could see over one inch of rain. Those are the two main rain areas, but scattered showers and an isolated t-storm are possible elsewhere in Minnesota and western Wisconsin Sunday afternoon and evening.

NOAA’s High-Resolution Rapid-Refresh (HRRR) forecast model shows a less expansive area of rain in far northern Minnesota Sunday afternoon and evening:
The Twin Cities metro area could see a late afternoon shower, with a better chance of occasional showers and an isolated thunderstorm Sunday evening and overnight Sunday night.

Sunday afternoon wind gusts are expected to be in the 10 to 16 mph range in many areas, but gusts could be close to 20 mph in far northwestern Minnesota:
Forecast wind gusts are in knots, with 14 knots equal to 16.1 mph.
