Wintry mix spreads across Minnesota

Our Sunday begins with areas of showers from northwestern Minnesota into east-central Minnesota. Those showers are tracking eastward and will spread into parts of western Wisconsin this morning. A few thunderstorms may develop in those rain areas this morning. An isolated shower or thunderstorm is also possible elsewhere in Minnesota this morning.

There will be a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms in Minnesota and western Wisconsin this afternoon and evening, but most areas will also have many dry hours.

Sunday highs reach the 80s in much of central and southern Minnesota, with mainly 70s  elsewhere in Minnesota plus western Wisconsin:

There will be some 60s near Lake Superior.

Sunday afternoon dew points in central and southern Minnesota plus western Wisconsin will feel summery, in the upper 50s to lower 60s:

Some strong to severe thunderstorms could spread across Minnesota and parts of western Wisconsin later Sunday night into Monday morning. The NWS Storm Prediction Center shows a marginal risk of severe weather (darker green) for much of our region, with a slight risk (yellow) in parts of northwestern and west-central Minnesota:

Slight risk means that scattered severe thunderstorms are possible, marginal risk means that an isolated severe thunderstorm is possible. The explanation of storm timing and potential severe hazards in the graphic above is from the NWS Twin Cities office.
