We’ll have some very summery weather this weekend. Temperatures and dew points will be on the rise, and some thunderstorms will be possible, especially Saturday evening into Saturday night and Sunday.
Weekend temperatures and dew points
Our average Twin Cities high temp on July 9 is 84 degrees. Twin Cities metro area highs are expected to be near normal on Saturday. Highs will be mainly in the 80s across Minnesota and western Wisconsin Saturday afternoon, with some 70s in northeastern Minnesota:
There could be some 60s up along the North Shore of Lake Superior.
Saturday afternoon dew points will be mainly in the 60s, with the stickiest dew points (upper 60s) in west-central and southwestern Minnesota:

High temps ramp up a bit in the southern half of Minnesota on Sunday, with upper 80s to lower 90s:
Sunday afternoon dew points will be in the upper 60s to lower 70s in much of Minnesota:
Drier dew points will be found in northeastern Minnesota.
Thunderstorm chances
Thunderstorms could move into northwestern Minnesota late Saturday afternoon, then spread to the east-southeast Saturday evening and overnight Saturday night.
A few thunderstorms could be strong to severe in northwestern Minnesota Saturday evening and overnight Saturday night.
The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center shows a slight risk (shaded yellow) of severe weather Saturday and Saturday night in much of North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota:

There could be additional strong to severe thunderstorms anywhere in Minnesota and western Wisconsin Sunday and Sunday night. A severe weather outlook for that period will be issued by the NWS Storm Prediction Center on Friday.
