It’ll get hot and muggy again Friday into Saturday. Saturday also brings the threat of storms and possible severe weather. A prolonged stretch of seasonable temperatures follows.
Hot and muggy air returns
Hopefully you enjoyed the last couple days of somewhat more comfortable conditions. 90 degree temperatures and muggy air returns for Friday and Saturday.
Saturday will again be close to 90 ahead of thunderstorms.

Risk of storms and hopeful rain
Saturday into Saturday night brings our best chance of rain and thunderstorms we’ve had in a while.
While it’s no guarantee and won’t be widespread, there will be some locally heavy rainfall across portions of southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
35th anniversary of the ‘Super Storm’
This weekend marks the 35th anniversary of the July 23-24, 1987 ‘Super Storm.’ The storm dumped 10 to 12.75 inches of rainfall on the Twin Cities in a matter of just several hours, causing widespread flooding and killing two people.
The storms only moved 15 miles in three hours. It was an event with a 0.1 percent probability or once in 1,000 year event. You can read more from the Minnesota State Climatology Office:
