Southern Minnesota will see brighter skies Monday and sunshine will dominate statewide Tuesday into the upcoming holiday weekend.

Stormy weekend brought beneficial rains

More rain fell Sunday along with severe weather north and west. Some spots saw 1 to 2 inches of rain in the Twin Cities and pockets of central Minnesota.

Weekend rainfall totals reflect ample rain in northwestern Minnesota and in southeastern Minnesota along with half of the drought-stricken Twin Cities metro area.

Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport picked up 1.17 inches total over the weekend but remains 6.04 inches behind for summer to date rainfall (since June 1).
