Temperatures will remain well above normal in the upper 80s to near 90 in southern Minnesota Thursday and Friday with isolated thunder possible Friday. Temperatures will be closer to normal, in the 70s this weekend.
Heat followed by a comfortable weekend
Thursday and Friday will be close to 90 degrees in southern Minnesota.
Dew points will be in the sticky 60s after a break from it the last few days. A cool front slides across the region Friday touching off isolated thunder showers with the better chance in southeastern Minnesota and Wisconsin in the evening hours Friday.
Behind the cool front temperatures will be much cooler, but closer to normal in the 70s Saturday.
Meteorological fall brings a big decrease in daylight
September begins meteorological Autumn. We know this means a drop in temperatures and daylight, but just how much? We lose about four hours of daylight across most of Minnesota from Sept. 1 through Dec. 1.
Our normal high temperature starts at 78 in the Twin Cities on Sept. 1 and by Nov. 30, the last day of meteorological fall, the normal high temperature is just 35. International Falls, on Minnesota’s border with Canada, drops from 73 to 28 for a normal high by Nov. 30.
