We’ve got another hot day Friday with highs in the upper 80s south, but cooler in the north with 70s. That cool front will touch off just isolated showers Friday. Seasonable temperatures, back in the 70s spread statewide for Saturday and Sunday.

Cool front brings a break from the September heat

It’ll be another hot day Friday in southern Minnesota ahead of a cool front. Behind the front, northern Minnesota will already see a difference in afternoon temperatures.

Dew points will drop as well Friday night. Seasonable air moves in for the holiday weekend. The front will pass through Minnesota quietly, though a few isolated showers are possible. Southeastern Minnesota into Wisconsin has the best chance of some scattered storms. While spotty, whatever does develop might create an isolated severe storm.

Highs Saturday and Sunday will be in the 70s nearly statewide except northeast Minnesota where they may stay in the 60s only. Overnight lows Saturday night will be the coolest for many since the start of June.

Very warm again next week

After a cooler weekend of temperature right where they should be, there are indications that heat could be building back in for the middle of next week. An upper level ridge of high pressure that’s bringing record-breaking heat to the southwest will try to stretch itself into the upper Midwest.
