It will be even chillier Thursday with highs mostly in the 40s. Parts of far northern Minnesota will remain in the upper 30s while a few southern Minnesota spots reach 50. Southwest Minnesota will see very dry, windy conditions leading to fire risk.

It’s cold enough for some snow showers today mixing with rain showers Thursday in northern Minnesota but that snow could stick overnight into early Friday for some areas.

Red flag warnings for southwest Minnesota

Potentially hazardous fire weather conditions develop today in southwest Minnesota into the Dakotas. Gusty winds combined with low relative humidity will lead to an increased fire risk midday into the afternoon.

The red flag warning goes into effect for most areas from 12 p.m. through 7 p.m. Thursday. Relative humidity values will be in the 10% to 20% range in those areas and winds will gust between 40 and 50 mph.
