Temps warm during quiet weather week; dry pattern returns
Above-normal temperatures look to persist into next week
After an active couple of weeks this week will be quiet. A clipper will bring light snow to northern Minnesota late Monday night into early Tuesday and a system on Thanksgiving stays mainly south. Temperatures will be warming to above normal this week also.
After active early November, a quieter week
Finally, after months of dry weather in southern Minnesota, November has been wetter than normal. Much of Minnesota has seen 1.5 to 3 times normal precipitation (month to date).
Much of the region is also ahead on November snowfall to date.
The snow cover map looks more like the start of December than mid-November. Northeastern Minnesota has 8 to 12 inches of snow cover and the vast majority of the state has at least some snow.
In central and southern Minnesota we can expect to likely lose our 1 or 2 inches of snow cover with warming temperatures this week.
Northern Minnesota also will get a fresh coating of light snow (less than 1 inch) late Monday night into Tuesday morning.
From below-average temps to above average
Starting Tuesday, high temperatures in central and southern Minnesota will be above freezing, in the 30s. By Wednesday we could see 40 degrees. The above-normal temperatures look to persist into next week.
