Slightly cooler to start the week; Wintry mix possible Monday AM in far southern Minn.

Snow in many areas Tuesday

It was great to have sunny skies and warmer temperatures on Sunday.

The Sunday high temp at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was 34 degrees. That was 20 degrees warmer than the Saturday high of 14 degrees.

Much of central and southern Minnesota plus western Wisconsin had Sunday highs in the 30s. There were some 40s in parts of southwestern and west-central Minnesota that have little or no snow cover. Temperatures will retreat a bit on Monday.

Wintry mix possible in the south on Monday

Areas of light snow showers will spread across far northern Minnesota on Monday. A mix of light snow and light rain/light freezing rain is possible early Monday morning in far southern Minnesota, followed by a changeover to light snow. There could be a bit of icing on some roads in far southern Minnesota anytime between about 3 a.m. and 8 a.m. on Monday, before the changeover to all snow. The chance of a wintry mix is mainly in the southern two rows of Minnesota counties… including areas along I-90. Most of the Twin Cities metro area is expected to be dry on Monday, but a morning snow shower will be possible in the far south metro.
