Cleaner, cooler air; milder again this weekend
Temperatures will be closer to normal Thursday and Friday
Air quality will continue to improve through the day Thursday thanks to cooler winds from the northwest. Highs will be in the 20s and teens Thursday and Friday with warmer air back for the weekend.

Minnesota’s air quality has improved drastically over the past 24 hours thanks to colder northwest winds blowing in. Take a look at the air quality Wednesday morning compared to Thursday morning:
A mild January
It’s been a very mild January so far and we’re already more than one-third of the way through it. The Twin Cities is averaging more than 5 degrees above normal, especially on overnight low temperatures.
Nationwide, most of us are also experiencing warmer-than-normal temperatures for January. The exceptions are California and parts of the southwest, which has been pretty stormy, keeping temperatures cooler there.

Rain, snow chances Monday for southern MN
While we will be cooler the next two days, overall the pattern is back to above normal.
Here are high and low temperature forecasts for the Twin Cities with the record highs and normal highs and lows for reference:
Chilly readings with mostly single-digit lows will come overnight Thursday into Friday. A few places in western Minnesota could even drop just below zero.
By Sunday, temperatures are in the 30s nearly statewide to even close to 40 in southern Minnesota.
Two storm systems are rolling across the United States. Minnesota looks to be mainly on the northern edge of these systems. Monday could bring rain and snow showers to southern Minnesota.
