Chilly morning temperatures will moderate Friday afternoon courtesy of an increasing southwesterly wind. Skies will be sunny across the south half of Minnesota while mid and high clouds from the west filter the sunshine up north.
High temperatures will be from the mid-20s to the low 30s. The Twin Cities should have a sunny high near 29 degrees with a wind becoming southwest 15 to 25 mph in the afternoon.
A stronger Alberta clipper is forecast to drop a few inches of snow on Minnesota on Monday. A much bigger snowstorm is expected midweek next week.
Milder weekend temps
Warmer temperatures will return for this weekend. Highs on Saturday should be upper 20s to mid-30s under mostly cloudy skies.

Sunday might be a few degrees cooler as a weak Alberta clipper sweeps across the state with clouds and a dusting of light snow.
Snowfall totals through Sunday night might be and inch or two, mainly for northern and into central Minnesota.
Major midweek storm?
The major event next week is likely to be a large, long duration winter storm. It will develop over Colorado and start heading our way early next week.
It’s too early to forecast where or how much snow will fall, but forecast models indicate the storm deepening into a major winter storm with abundant moisture.
The outlook as of now is for a broad region of plowable snow across much of Minnesota later Tuesday through Thursday. Tight pressure gradients on the storm’s north and west sides might cause significant blowing and drifting.
