Snow showers continue across central Minnesota Wednesday; cooler Thursday

Snow fell overnight Tuesday into Wednesday and will continue on and off across central Minnesota. Temperatures will be slightly cooler Thursday before warming back up Friday. We’ll finally see a few days of dry weather from Thursday into Saturday.

Snow showers Wednesday; briefly cooler Thursday

Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories continue for much of central Minnesota into northwest Wisconsin into Wednesday afternoon. We’ll see scattered snow showers into the evening in northeast Minnesota.

Expect some scattered rain and snow showers farther south into the Twin Cities midday.

The snow really is piling up in parts of north-central and northwestern Minnesota where as much as 9.5 inches fell through 9 a.m. around Lake Itasca.

Additional snowfall totals can be expected on top of what’s already fallen through late Wednesday morning, especially near Lake Superior.

It will still be mild Wednesday with highs mainly in the 30s south and 20s north. Parts of northwestern Minnesota will be considerably cooler, in the single digits and teens.

A brief shot of cooler air moves in behind this system allowing temps to dip below zero for portions of northern Minnesota Wednesday night. We should remain in the teens across the Twin Cities and southeast Minnesota.

High temperatures Thursday will be a bit cooler also ranging from the low 30s in the southeast to the teens in the northwest.

We’ll be milder Friday into the weekend with widespread 30s returning to southern and even northeastern Minnesota. We should be dry most of the next several days too before the next system brings some rain and snow shower by late Sunday into Monday.
