We have one mostly dry day Tuesday with mostly cloudy skies and temperatures near normal, in the 30s south and 20s northwest. Snow showers develop west Tuesday night with the more significant, heavy snow moving in late Thursday.
Dry Tuesday
Tuesday will bring a break from precipitation for most of Minnesota. Don’t look for much in the way of sunshine however. Skies will be mostly cloudy. Highs will be in the 30s for southern and eastern Minnesota with some teens in the northwest corner of the state where temperatures are colder early Tuesday morning also.
Those temperatures for the most part are close to normal except in the chillier northwest corner of Minnesota.
Prolonged period of snow, heaviest Thursday night
Snow showers already develop in western Minnesota Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
Snowfall totals will generally be on the lighter side with the start of this snow.
The snow showers will spread east through the day Wednesday into Thursday. The heaviest snow and main event with the upcoming storm system is late Thursday through Thursday night.
Significant accumulations are likely across southern Minnesota into western Wisconsin Thursday night.
