Temperatures warm up Wednesday with many places seeing highs in the 40s. The first round of moisture brings rain and snow to northern Minnesota Wednesday night with rain and snow spreading across southern Minnesota Thursday.
Mild Wednesday
High temperatures Wednesday will soar into the 40s across eastern and southern portions of the state. Western Minnesota will remain cooler with highs in the mid to upper 30s. We’ll see some morning sun but clouds will increase and thicken up through the day.

High temperatures will be near or slightly above normal for the date in most areas.

Rain and snow comes in two rounds for northern then southern Minnesota
Our next storm system will bring moisture in two waves. The first will develop rain and snow showers across northern Minnesota Wednesday night into early Thursday then moisture will fill in from the southwest early Thursday and spread northeast.

Northern Minnesota can expect a fresh coating of snow, up to a couple inches Wednesday night in some places but the snow will be mixing with rain also, at least initially.

The precipitation will likely fall as a rain and snow mix in southern Minnesota turning to snow by Thursday afternoon and night. Storm total snowfall will be wet and difficult to measure as in previous ‘mild snowfalls.’

Behind the storm it will be colder Friday and Saturday with highs in the 20s and low 30s, at least 15 degrees below normal.
