Cold, bright Wednesday; windy with rain, snow, thunder developing Thursday

Temperatures will be 15 to 25 degrees colder than normal Wednesday with sunshine. Rain, snow and even thunder in far southern Minnesota develops Thursday afternoon; the first of two rounds of wintry precipitation into early Saturday.

Cold Wednesday; breezy and warmer Thursday

It’s a frigid start for the end of March across the region early Wednesday. We’ll see cold sunshine through the day with temperatures of 15 to 25 degrees below normal. Highs will range from around 30 in southeast Minnesota into the upper teens in northwest Minnesota.

Winds increase Thursday as warmer air returns ahead of the approaching storm system. Winds will increase to 10-20 mph from the southeast.

Two rounds of moisture develops Thursday into early Saturday

Rain, and snow develop across central and northern Minnesota Thursday afternoon with the possibility of thunderstorms in far southern Minnesota Thursday evening.

This first round of precipitation will bring a coating of snow to northern Minnesota.

We’ll have a bit of a break Friday morning before a second round of precipitation fills in with a wintry mix turning to snow for southern Minnesota Friday night.

Beyond the storm system, we have a shot at our first 50 degree reading finally Sunday and Monday in the Twin Cities and southern Minnesota. It will be the latest 50 in 22 years.
