We have one more quiet day Monday before the next big storm system brings lots of moisture to Minnesota again Tuesday. Snow will develop in central and northern Minnesota Tuesday morning with rain developing south. Significant snow will fall north and west into Wednesday.
Quiet Monday, still cooler than normal
Monday will be mainly dry for most of us, northern Minnesota will have a few flurries or a sprinkle. Clouds will increase for all.
High temperatures will be mild compared to our recent readings, but still below normal.
Rain, heavy snow return to Minnesota
Don’t get too comfortable, our three days of quiet weather will be over as the next powerful storm system brings a lot of moisture to Minnesota yet again Tuesday into Wednesday. Snow will develop early Tuesday across central Minnesota and spread north while rain showers fill in across southern Minnesota.
This event will be mainly rain for the Twin Cities and areas south. Significant snowfall is possible for the northern and western portions of Minnesota into Wednesday. In between, ice accumulation will also be possible across portions of central and northeast Minnesota.
In addition to the precipitation, it will be very windy again Tuesday. Colder air will move in behind the storm system as well for Wednesday and Thursday, dropping temperatures into the 30s before a more sustained warm up shapes up Friday into the weekend.
