The pattern switches from warm and dry to occasional thunder chances with more heat and humidity this week.
Occasional rain and thunder chances through the week
Tuesday kicks off an unsettled pattern with occasional spotty rain and thunderstorm chances right into the weekend. Look for some scattered morning activity Tuesday with midday sunshine; that will destabilize the atmosphere and thunderstorms will pop up mid afternoon into the evening hours.
There’s a marginal risk of severe weather Tuesday evening, with the primary threat of some isolated storms producing large hail.
Each afternoon and evening will bring the chance of at least spotty storms popping up for most right into the weekend.
Heating up with more humid air
Tuesday will see highs in the mid 80s for most. The North Shore will be cooler almost all week with highs in the 70s there.
Dew points will be increasing to ‘sticky’ levels, in the 60s starting Tuesday afternoon into the weekend.
By Thursday and Friday we’re looking at highs near 90 for many parts of southern and western Minnesota. Fittingly, meteorological summer begins Thursday.
