Hot, muggy conditions persist into the weekend with better chances of scattered thunderstorms developing Friday and Saturday afternoons. Activity Sunday may be more isolated.

Friday will bring yet another steamy day with highs in the upper 80s to near 90 with muggy dew points in the 60s. Skies will be partly sunny.

Once again we’ll look for scattered thunderstorms to develop by mid-afternoon through the evening hours Friday and Saturday.

The chance of showers becomes more isolated Sunday as dew points drop slightly into the 50s, increasing stability across eastern Minnesota.

Next week looks to bring slightly cooler temperatures with highs potentially just near 80 by Tuesday and Wednesday.

Latest drought monitor shows dry weather expanding

The latest drought monitor shows abnormally dry conditions expanding by more than double across Minnesota. Abnormally dry conditions expanded from 30 percent of Minnesota last week to now 65 percent of the state.

Rock county in southwestern Minnesota is in moderate drought.

While March and April were wet for most, May was a very dry month. The dry weather is expected to continue into much of June. The forecast is for the southern most counties of Minnesota to see drought develop.
