A cool high pressure system extends from North Dakota and South Dakota into Minnesota today. We’ll have a breezy Sunday, with temperatures a few degrees below average.
Temperature trends
The average Twin Cities high temperature is 78 degrees on June 11. Metro area highs are expected to reach the lower 70s this afternoon.
Sunday highs will be in the lower 70s across much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin, with some mid-70s in far northwestern Minnesota. There will be some 60s near Lake Superior and in northwestern Wisconsin.
Monday highs will reach the upper 70s to around 80 degrees in many locations:

Cooler temps are expected along the North Shore of Lake Superior.
Tuesday highs will feel very summery, with mid-80s and upper 80s:
Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the upper 80s on Tuesday and Wednesday, followed by lower 80s Thursday and Friday.
No really chilly weather is in sight. The NWS Climate Prediction Center shows a tendency for above-normal temps in Minnesota next Sunday and into the following week:
Mainly dry on Monday
Most of Minnesota will have a dry Monday, but there could be a stray shower in far southeastern Minnesota by Monday evening. There’s a better chance of showers in portions of Wisconsin Monday afternoon and evening.

Saturday rain recap
Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport tallied just six-hundredths of an inch of rain on Saturday. Holman Field Airport in St Paul reported 42/100ths of an inch. I had 1.62 inches of rain in St. Paul Saturday afternoon. Radar estimates were even higher than that in very small portions of southeastern Ramsey County, northeastern Dakota County and southwestern Washington County:
Heavy rain caused street flooding Saturday afternoon in portions of South St. Paul and West St. Paul.
Radar estimates showed around 9 inches of rain Saturday near Franklin, Minn. in Renville County, which prompted flood warnings in that area Saturday evening.
Weather nugget
Before Saturday, the last rainfall at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was three/100ths of an inch on June 2. The June 2023 rainfall total is still less than one-tenth of an inch at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
