Many parts of Minnesota are very dry right now. This week’s U.S. Drought Monitor report shows severe drought in the orange stripe from northeastern Stearns County to far southwestern Pine County:
Moderate drought covers the beige-shaded areas in Minnesota, and includes roughly the northern half of the Twin Cities metro area. The yellow-shaded areas are abnormally dry, but not yet in drought.
We have the potential for patchy showers and thunderstorms this weekend, but many spots won’t see any meaningful rain.

Computer models show patchy areas of showers and thunderstorms Saturday and Sunday. The rain isn’t expected to last for a long time over any one spot, but some areas could see some welcome rain.

Western and north-central Minnesota appear to have the best chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday morning and afternoon, then the best rain chances expand eastward Saturday evening into Sunday.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale forecast model shows the potential rain pattern from 4 a.m. Saturday to 7 p.m. Sunday:
Pay more attention to the patchy nature of the rain than the exact location of the rain at any point in time.

Weekend temps and dew points
The average Twin Cities high temperature is 80 degrees on June 17. Metro area highs are expected to reach the upper 80s this Saturday.
Most of central and southern Minnesota plus western Wisconsin will have Saturday highs in the 80s, with 70s in the northern third of Minnesota:
Saturday will feature summery dew points, in the 50s in most areas but in the stickier 60s in southwestern Minnesota:
Sunday high temps reach the lower 80s in central and southern Minnesota plus west-central Wisconsin, with mainly 70s elsewhere:
Sunday afternoon dew points will be in the 50s and lower 60s:
