Friday will be hot and muggy again south with thunderstorms developing in the central and northern parts of Minnesota along with isolated thunderstorm chances south. Saturday brings statewide rain chances with potential severe weather south.
Hot, stormy Friday; air quality alert southeast
Friday will be hot and occasionally muggy in southern Minnesota. Highs will be in the upper 80s to low 90s.
Dew points will be occasionally muggy, into the 60s across central and southern Minnesota.
Look for a few showers in the morning Friday with more scattered storms developing in central and northern Minnesota Friday afternoon into the evening. Southeastern Minnesota will be mainly dry but a few isolated storms are possible in the Twin Cities metro area.

Widespread rain chances Saturday; severe weather possible in southern MN
Saturday will bring a few lingering scattered showers in the morning and midday then a break much of the afternoon with peeks of sunshine. Storms will redevelop in the late afternoon and evening hours and push east.
Storms that do develop Saturday could be strong to severe. We have a slight risk of severe storms across much of south-central Minnesota and marginal risk for most of southern Minnesota.
Importantly, this system looks to bring our best chance of more widespread significant rainfall. Not everyone will get 1 to 2 inches of rain but more areas should see heavier rain than in the last several weeks, potentially.
