Much-needed rain finally swept into Minnesota over the weekend. While amounts varied considerably, as is common with convective systems, rainfall totals were generally high enough to boost water supplies to crops, lawns and gardens. My backyard rain gauge in Minneapolis measured almost an inch and a half.
Comfortable Monday
Isolated showers will sprinkle southern Minnesota as they drift southward Monday morning before drying out.
Clouds should thin slowly as the day progresses. Smoke from Canadian wildfires will tinge the air, especially in northern Minnesota. Afternoon high temperatures should be near normal from the mid-70s to low 80s.
The Twin Cities will have a high near 80 with a northwest breeze of 10 to 20 mph. Dew points will drop as the day proceeds.

Warmer Tuesday
Tuesday will be a touch warmer with highs mainly in the low to mid-80s, but cooler along the North Shore. Scattered afternoon thunderstorms will likely pop across northern Minnesota.
Better chance of rain midweek
Our next best chance of rain should arrive Tuesday night and hang around into Wednesday. Some storms could be on the strong side.
Highs on Wednesday look to be from the mid-70s north to the mid-80s south, and cooler again near Lake Superior.
Mostly quiet later in the week
Weather should be fairly quiet with near-normal temperatures from Thursday through next weekend. Scattered showers are possible on Thursday and Friday, but nothing dramatic is expected.
