After some lingering spotty thunderstorms early Thursday in some areas it will again be hot and humid south. Excessive heat warnings and heat advisories go through 8 p.m. Thursday. We’ll also see more possible storms.
Excessive heat Thursday with more possible storms then cooler
Lingering morning showers and thunder will dissipate with another steamy day on the way Thursday afternoon. Highs will be well into the 90s south with dew points around 70 degrees.
The heat index will be in the triple digits for many spots in southern Minnesota Thursday afternoon.
An excessive heat warning is in effect through the afternoon and evening Thursday for the Twin Cities through Mankato with heat advisories elsewhere in southern Minnesota into western Wisconsin.
More storms are possible late in the day with the potential for damaging wind gusts and hail along and ahead of a cool front.
Storms that develop late Thursday could be severe. A slight risk (level 2 of 5) of severe weather is forecast.
Storms are again possible Friday as cooler air continues to advance south across the state. By the weekend highs will cool to the 80 south and 70s north.
