After several days of steamy weather, we’re ready to enjoy the comfortable temperatures and dew points that are in our weekend forecast.
The next few days will feature nice weather for anyone headed out to the Minnesota State Fair.
Temperature trends
The average Twin Cities high temperature is 79 degrees this time of year. Some spots in the metro area will reach the mid 70s Saturday afternoon.
Most of Minnesota and west-central Wisconsin will top out in the 70s this Saturday, with 60s in parts of north-central and northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin. Dew points will be in the comfortable 50s in most locations.

Sunday highs will be mainly in the 70s:
Parts of southwestern Minnesota will reach the lower 80s, and there will be some 60s near Grand Marais.
Sunday afternoon dew points will be mainly in the 50s:
Monday highs will reach the 70s in roughly the northern third of Minnesota, with 80s elsewhere:
Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the lower 80s on Monday and Tuesday, then around 80 on Wednesday followed by mid 80s Thursday and upper 80s on Friday.
Mainly dry weekend
Saturday is expected to be rain-free in most of Minnesota and western Wisconsin.
A few scattered showers are possible in northwestern and north-central Minnesota Sunday afternoon. The chance of scattered showers will expand to include northeastern Minnesota plus parts of central Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin Sunday evening.

A lot of 90s
The Friday high temperature at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport was 91 degrees. The official Twin Cities high temperature has reached 90 degrees or warmer on 7 days this August. That brings our 2023 total to 27 days with a high temp of 90 degrees or warmer.
The official Twin Cities high temp also hit 90 degrees or warmer on 27 days in 2021, which was the highest total since 31 days in 2012:
The highest number of 90 or warmer days in Twin Cities weather records was 44 days, set in 1988.
