After soaking rains over the weekend, we’re not done yet. Look for scattered lingering showers, thunder Monday. Summer temperatures return by late in the week.
More scattered showers Monday and cooler
The weekend storm system will be slow to exit the region. It’s what we call a ‘cut-off’ upper level low, literally ‘cut-off’ from the main flow and steering winds of the atmosphere. Clouds and moisture will continue to linger midweek for southern Minnesota. Expect more scattered showers and even thunderstorms Monday into Monday night.
With the clouds and showers, it will be cooler Monday with highs mainly in the 60s.
Tuesday the showers should become more spotty but it will remain mostly cloud for central and southern Minnesota. Highs will be in the mid to upper 60s south to near 70 north where more sun will appear.
We should see more sunshine Thursday and Friday statewide with a return to summer-like temperatures. Highs will be in the low 80s across southern Minnesota by the weekend.
