After a droughty summer, widespread rain finally found its way into Minnesota.
Rain has been falling on central and southern Minnesota overnight and continues over most of that area Friday morning.
A low pressure storm system over Nebraska will track eastward across Iowa on Friday. Minnesota will remain on its chilly north side with repeated bands of rain for central and southern parts of the state.
Many areas picked up more than an inch of rain from Thursday through Thursday night. West of the Twin Cities, spots around Hutchinson were reporting more than 2 inches by early Friday morning.

Additional rainfalls Friday and Friday night of an inch or more are likely for mainly east central Minnesota, while amounts of half an inch to one inch seem likely for much of the rest of central and southern Minnesota.
Highs from the upper 40s to mid 50s and a gusty east wind will make for a rather raw Friday. The Twin Cities should have a high near 48 with east winds becoming northeast and gusting over 30 mph all day.
Drying weekend
High pressure from Canada will start knocking down the rain showers by later Friday night. Some showers could linger in southern Minnesota Saturday morning. High temperatures will continue on the chilly side.
Sunday will bring more sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures.
Expect dry days and cooler-than-normal temperatures from Sunday through Tuesday.
