Expect a soggy Thursday nearly statewide. Scattered rain showers will dominate with snow in the northwest. Winds will increase and temperatures will fall on Friday.

Thursday will be on and off wet for most of the state. Scattered periods of rain showers will dominate with snow in the northwestern part of Minnesota.

There will be a big temperature divide as cold air continues to gather to the northwest, poised to descend on the state Friday. Highs will be in the 60s south but just 30s northwest.

Winds will increase in northwestern Minnesota Thursday and Friday statewide. Expect 15-30 mph northwest winds by Friday with gusts as high as 30 to 40 mph.

Temperatures will also drop through the day Friday as frigid air moves through.

Get ready for a cold weekend. Highs will be in the 30s with even subfreezing highs in northwestern Minnesota. We’ll also see snow showers Saturday that could lead to some minor slushy accumulation even in southern Minnesota.
