Bitter cold is blowing in with gusty winds Friday. Temperatures will be about 10 to 15 degrees below normal this weekend with snow showers developing in southern Minnesota Saturday.
Blustery winds usher in coldest air of fall so far
The winds are howling across Minnesota as a significant cold front blows through. Winds will blow at 15-25 mph with higher gusts.
Temperatures will continue to drop and level off in the 30s and even 20s in northwest Minnesota. We’ll see some lingering rain and snow showers in northern Minnesota through midday Friday. Expect a cold overnight. Check out the map below.
High temperatures Saturday will be frigid also ranging from just the 20s north to 30s south.
Our next system will spread rain and snow showers across southern Minnesota midday Saturday into the evening hours.
Look for snowfall for many spots in the southern half of the state with the highest amounts near Worthington in southwestern Minnesota where 1 to 3 inches could fall.
The cold air sticks around into much of next week. Expect below normal temperatures with perhaps even a few more snow showers on Halloween Tuesday.
