We’ll see warmer temperatures heading into the weekend with the chance of rain increasing Sunday into Monday. The majority of Minnesota is no longer in drought in the latest report.

Most of Minnesota no longer in drought

Finally, for the first time in many months, a majority of Minnesota is no longer in drought. Almost 44 percent of Minnesota is in at least moderate drought, down from 54 percent a week ago.

Moderate and severe drought hangs onto portions of central and north-central Minnesota and also a pocket of southeastern Minnesota, but many areas saw continued improvement over the past week.

Milder weekend; precipitation chances rise

Thursday should be a few degrees warmer for most with more widespread highs in the 40s across southern Minnesota. Look for partly cloudy skies in southern Minnesota while more clouds hang on in northern Minnesota.

Temperatures are still on track to be warmer Friday into the weekend with highs in the upper 40s to even near 50 this weekend across southern Minnesota.

We are continuing to watch a few different disturbances bring increased cloud cover over the weekend with chances increasing for rain and even snow north Sunday into Monday.
