Lingering rain and snow showers will depart northeastern Minnesota through the morning Wednesday. Winds will increase to the west. Temperatures will remain mild south.

Lingering showers north with increasing winds

Snow and rain showers will linger in northeastern Minnesota Wednesday morning. Portions of northeastern Minnesota and the North Shore saw snowfall overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.

Grand Marais saw 5 inches of snow while most areas saw one to three inches farther inland and southwest.

It will still be relatively mild in southern Minnesota with highs in the low to mid-50s while northwestern Minnesota and the Arrowhead will be in the upper 30s.

More snow showers north and windy Thursday

Snow showers will wrap around the lagging upper level low behind the current system into northern Minnesota Thursday.

There will be some light snowfall accumulations for northern Minnesota with many areas seeing a coating to as much as an inch.

The big story Thursday will be the wind. Winds will be 15 to 30 mph with gusts over 40 mph at times as cooler air slides in.

Much warmer next week

After a few slightly cooler than normal days, a milder pattern sets back up Sunday into next week.
