Saturday precipitation chances in some areas; brighter on Sunday

This weather feels appropriate for November. Much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin have plenty of cloud cover today and some areas will see a bit of rain and even some flakes.

Precipitation chances

Radar has been showing patches of precipitation this morning in portions of eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin. In some cases the sprinkles or snowflakes are not reaching the ground.

Patchy light rain showers or sprinkles are possible in the Twin Cities metro area and southeastern Minnesota Saturday afternoon and Saturday evening. Some locations could also see some snowflakes at times.

Areas of rain & snow showers will be possible Saturday afternoon and evening in northeastern Minnesota and in parts of western Wisconsin. It may transition to mainly snow in parts of northeastern Minnesota Saturday evening, where some forecast models indicate light snow accumulations.

The daylight hours of Sunday look dry across most of Minnesota, but far northern Minnesota could see a few scattered showers.

Temperature trends

The average Twin Cities high temperature is 44 degrees on Nov. 11. Twin Cities metro area highs are forecast to be mainly in the mid-40s Saturday afternoon.

Much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin will have Saturday high temps in the 40s, with 30s in far northern Minnesota and a few lower 50s in far southwestern Minnesota.

Much of Minnesota plus western Wisconsin will top out in the 50s Sunday afternoon, with 40s in far northern Minnesota:

A similar high temperature pattern is on tap for Monday:

Southern Minnesota could see some lower 60s Tuesday afternoon, with mainly 50s elsewhere.

Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to be around 60 on Tuesday, followed by lower 60s Wednesday and Thursday then lower 50s on Friday.

Weather nugget

The record Twin Cities snowfall for this date is 8.2 inches, on Nov. 11, 1940. An additional 8.5 inches of snow were recorded the next day, Nov.12. That two-day storm, which included fierce winds, became known as the Armistice Day blizzard.
