A warm front will blow unseasonably-warm air into Minnesota on Tuesday. Afternoon high temperatures will be in the 50s across northern Minnesota and reach the 60s in the balmy south.
The Twin Cities should reach about 65 with a south wind increasing to 20-30 mph. Some gusts could approach 40 mph by lunchtime.
Wind advisory
The windiest part of the state will be the Buffalo Ridge area of southwestern Minnesota where a wind advisory has been posted for Tuesday’s daylight hours. Gusts in that area could reach 50 mph at times.
Pleasant Wednesday
Wednesday will be a little less toasty, but with just light breezes will be a very comfortable autumn day.
Change coming on Thursday
A cold front will slide southeastward across Minnesota on Thursday. Temperatures will slip downward behind the front later in the day. A little light rain or snow is possible in northernmost Minnesota. But the rest of Minnesota and all of Wisconsin should have a dry day.
Closer to normal beginning on Friday
That cold front will shut the door on our October-like weather. Friday will be the coolest day of the week.
Pleasant weekend
The weekend should be good for outdoor activities. Afternoon highs are likely to be in the upper 30s in the northeast, 40s for most of the state, and some low to mid 50s possible in the southwest.
