It’s always nice to see weekend sunshine.
Clouds will be on the increase in southwestern Minnesota later this morning into early Sunday afternoon, then the clouds are expected to spread northeastward by later in the afternoon.
We’ll have warmer than normal temps again today. The average Twin Cities high temperature is 41 degrees on Nov. 19. Metro area highs are forecast to reach the mid 50s Sunday afternoon.
Sunday highs will be in the 50s across roughly the southern half of Minnesota, with mainly 40s in the north. Some spots along the Red River Valley in northwestern Minnesota will top 50 degrees. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a 60 somewhere in far southern Minnesota.

Temperature trends
Monday high temperatures will be mainly in the 40s:
Tuesday highs will be in the 30s across much of northern and central Minnesota, with 40s in the south:
Gusty winds are expected on Tuesday, so it’ll feel cooler than the air temperature.
Twin Cities metro area highs are projected to reach the mid 40s on Wednesday, followed by mid 30s on Thanksgiving Day and then around 30 degrees on Friday.
Rain chances
Some patchy rain showers could spread into southwestern Minnesota and parts of south-central Minnesota Sunday evening. Shower chances then expand to include west-central Minnesota overnight Sunday night. Western Minnesota and far southern Minnesota have a chance of rain showers on Monday.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s North American Mesoscale forecast model shows the potential precipitation pattern from 6 p.m. Sunday to 6 p.m. Monday:
Western and northern Minnesota could see some rain showers at times Monday night, with some flakes in the mix in parts of northern Minnesota. A lingering mix of rain and snow is possible in northeastern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin Tuesday morning.
At this point, it looks like the Twin Cities metro area could see a sprinkle late Monday and a sprinkle or flurry early Tuesday morning.
Forecast maps are showing mainly dry weather in Minnesota and western Wisconsin Wednesday through Friday. That’s good news for holiday travelers.

Weather nugget
The snowiest November in Twin Cities weather records was in 1991, with 46.9 inches of snow. About 20 inches of that total was during the first two days of the month, as the Halloween storm continued into early November.
