Thursday will bring even warmer temperatures and some will be near record territory. We’ll see plenty of sunshine also. A clipper system will bring snow showers to northern Minnesota Friday and cooler air for all this weekend.

Near record warmth Thursday followed by cooler weather this weekend

The December heat wave continues with highs into the 50s across southern Minnesota Thursday afternoon and even 60s in southwest Minnesota (again). Those readings are 20 to 30 degrees above normal.

There will also be some rain and snow showers in northern Minnesota Friday as a clipper system pushes through the area. That will also allow cooler air in its wake to move across the state.

The weekend will bring cooler temperatures in the 30s south to 20s north but still above normal slightly. Light snow showers will also be possible across the state Saturday with some minor accumulation potentially. There will also be a separate system bringing potential snow to southeast Minnesota Saturday into Saturday night as well.
