A clipper system will bring colder air and snow showers to northwest Minnesota. It will still be mild southeast Friday, but colder air and snow showers will develop statewide into Saturday.
Mild still south on Friday, then colder and windy Saturday with snow showers
Friday will be a day of transition as a clipper system brings colder air and precipitation to Minnesota. Friday will still be quite mild in southern Minnesota while northwest Minnesota will start to cool off with highs in the 30s.

Northern Minnesota will see some spotty rain showers transition to snow by the afternoon in northwest Minnesota. Snow will become heavier late in the day. Those snow showers will then spread southeast into Saturday, affecting the Twin Cities and southeast Minnesota as well.

A winter weather advisory is posted for northwest Minnesota from 6 p.m. Friday to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Snow totals will be highest in northwest Minnesota Friday into Friday night, with lighter snowfall totals of a coating to 1 inch for most of southern Minnesota.

Saturday will be cooler with highs in the 30s and 20s, but still slightly above normal — believe it or not.

In addition to the colder air, winds will be blustery Saturday at 15-30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. This will reduce visibility in open areas even with just a coating of fresh snow Saturday.

Sunday will be chillier but the sunshine will break back out. We’re closer to seasonable temperatures into Monday and Tuesday, but mid to late next week, another blast of mild air is headed our way.
