Temperatures will be more seasonable Monday but chilly with blustery winds, especially in the morning. Temperatures are back well above normal Tuesday into the weekend.

A chilly Monday followed by yet another big warmup

It’s a rare chilly morning Monday. A clipper system and cold front brought light snow showers overnight and wind ahead of some brief cold air. Despite feeling chilly, temperatures are actually closer to normal Monday.

Blustery winds will continue through the morning but gradually decrease Monday afternoon into the evening hours from 20 to 10 mph.

That wind is creating subzero wind chills north to single digits above zero in southern Minnesota and will through the morning hours.

High temperatures Monday afternoon will range from just the upper teens in northern Minnesota to near 30 in southwestern Minnesota, but again these readings are actually about where we should be for the date.

The seasonable air won’t last long. After another chilly night in the teens Monday night we’re warming back up Tuesday. Highs will be back above freezing for much of the state.

We’re in for a string of 40s again Wednesday into the weekend across southern Minnesota. Some rain and snow will be possible over the weekend with the next developing system.
