Dense fog Monday morning west and north. Mild temperatures

Dense fog advisories are in effect for central, western and northern Minnesota Monday morning. Light winds and limited mixing mean that the fog will be slow to thin.

Very mild start to the week

Monday will be a very mild day, although it will be murky in the foggy areas. Look for afternoon highs from the upper 30s northwest to the upper 40s in the Twin Cities and the south.

Tuesday and Wednesday will bring more springlike temperatures. Some record highs are likely. Highs both days should be from the low 40s north to the mid 50s in the southwest. The Twin Cities should have highs in the low 50s and be close to records for those dates.

Rain later in the week

Moisture from the southwest will begin to arrive midweek. A few light rain showers are possible late Wednesday, then Thursday looks to be a soggy day statewide.

Rain should mix with and maybe change over to wet snow Thursday night and on Friday as the weather system passes farther east. The best chance for a little snow accumulation will be across northern Minnesota.

Then cooler

Cooler, but still warmer-than-normal air will slide into Minnesota on the backside of that system. Highs should be from the upper 20s in the northernmost part of Minnesota to the 30s for the rest of the state on Friday and over the weekend.
