Very mild temps kick off the week; rain likely Thursday
Dense fog advisories remain in effect Monday morning. Around sunrise, many locations in central, west-central and southwestern Minnesota such as Morris, Tracy and St. James were reporting visibilities of a quarter-mile or less. Some fog could linger well into the afternoon.
Very mild start to the week
Monday will feel like late March. Afternoon high temperatures will be in the upper 30s northwest to the upper 40s in southern Minnesota. The Twin Cities should warm into the upper 40s with just a light breeze.
Tuesday and Wednesday will bring more springlike temperatures typical of early April. Highs both days should be from the low 40s north to the mid-50s in the southwest.
The Twin Cities should have highs in the low 50s and be close to records for those dates. The record high for Tuesday is 51 degrees. The current forecast expects the temperature to reach or slightly exceed that record.

Wednesday’s record high of 53 degrees might be more challenging to achieve.
Rain later in the week
Moisture from the huge storm clobbering California will track our way. Some moisture will rain out over the Rocky Mountains, but enough will reach our part of the world to bring us a rainy Thursday statewide.
Scattered rain should mix with and probably change to wet snow Thursday night and on Friday as temperatures cool a bit. The best chance for some snow accumulation could be in northwestern Minnesota. It should be a nonevent for the Twin Cities area.
Cooler weekend
Cooler but still mild air will arrive on the tail of that system. Highs should be in the upper 20s near Canada and mainly in the 30s for the rest of Minnesota on Friday and over the weekend.
Looking further ahead
The outlook for Feb. 12-18 calls for temperatures to remain warmer than normal well into the middle of February.
