Smuggling suspect knew of frigid cold before Indian family's death on Canada border, prosecutors say

A man accused of helping to lead a human smuggling operation that was implicated in the deaths of a family of four from India — who froze while trying to walk across the Canada-U.S. border during a blizzard in 2022 — had been warned about dangerous weather conditions before the group set out on the trip, court papers alleged.
