Enjoy what’s likely to be the last 80-degree day of the 2024 season. Two cold fronts will drop temperatures by Sunday to the coldest readings since April. Light rain is also possible.
August-like high temperatures today with seasonably-chilly weekend temperatures coming
Here we go again. Highs will soar into the 80s across the southern half of Minnesota Thursday afternoon. We’ll have lots of sun, though clouds will increase later in the day ahead of the first of two cool fronts. These readings are 20-25 degrees above normal for the date.

Highs Friday will be in the 60s and 70s for most with increased cloud cover.

Saturday will see highs close to normal — in the 60s and 50s — but even cooler air will drop temperatures further for Sunday and Monday. Even in southern Minnesota, highs will be in just the 50s with only 40s north.

Those cool readings will set us up for the first widespread frost for southern Minnesota and the Twin Cities suburbs early Monday and Tuesday mornings.
We also have the chance of some rain showers for central and northern Minnesota late Saturday into Sunday. Most rainfall looks relatively light, but a few spots could see a half-inch of precipitation in northeast Minnesota.
