Two Minnesota Lynx front office staff are headed to new jobs. General Manager Clare Duwelius is headed to Unrivaled, the new women’s three on three basketball league started by Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart.
After 11 years with the Lynx, Duwelius will be General Manager and Executive Vice President at Unrivaled.
The Lynx are also saying goodbye to Katie Smith. Smith has been associate head coach for the Lynx for the last two seasons; she joined the team in 2020.
She’s headed to her alma mater, Ohio State University, where she’ll be the assistant coach for the women’s basketball team. Smith played four years for Ohio State, collecting 2,578 points in a college career that included awards like Freshman of the Year, Player of the Year and three times on the All-Big Ten team.
Smith played for the Lynx, too. She was drafted in 1999, in the team’s inaugural season. She later won WNBA championships with the Detroit Shock in 2006 and 2008, when she was the Finals MVP.
