Our temperatures will warm 10 to 15 degrees above our seasonal average. Cloud cover will increase as a winter storm moves into the Northland. A surge of arctic air will cause temperatures to drop midweek.

A low-pressure system will slide across Minnesota Sunday, bringing snow and light ice accumulations due to the warmer temperatures. Winter weather advisories and winter storm warnings are in effect for northern Minnesota.

The heaviest impact will be in the Arrowhead region, where heavy snow is expected to accumulate through late Monday. Snowfall totals could range from 6 to 10 inches.

Our stretch of mild weather will persist through Sunday and into Monday, with highs in the Twin Cities expected to be 10 to 15 degrees above the seasonal average of 31 degrees.

As another arctic front moves in on Monday, temperatures will drop into the teens by Wednesday, with single-digit highs expected for northern Minnesota.

The coldest air of the season will arrive Wednesday night into Thursday morning, bringing subzero temperatures. Light winds are expected, but even with minimal wind, it will feel like minus 10 to minus 20 degrees below zero.

Fortunately, our chilly temperatures will be short-lived, with another warmup expected later in the work week.
