The thaw continues with temperatures above freezing for most of the state Thursday. A few light rain showers will be possible later in the day with a better chance for rain Friday into Saturday.
Mild temps persist; rain Friday, Saturday
A winter weather advisory continues through noon Thursday for southeastern Minnesota due to some freezing drizzle.

Foggy and hazy skies continue Thursday with the mild air mass sitting over our melting snow pack. Highs will be above freezing for most of the state Thursday afternoon.

Overnight temperatures will be very mild and above freezing for much of central and southern Minnesota into western Wisconsin.

Temperatures will be even warmer Friday and Saturday with low 40s across southern Minnesota.

Some spotty and light rain showers are possible later Thursday and into Thursday night with a better chance of more widespread, scattered rain showers developing Friday into the weekend.

Widespread rain of one-quarter inch to one-half inch or more could fall across east-central Minnesota and up along the North Shore into the weekend.

Snow could mix in Saturday, especially north as some colder air aloft works into the system.

We’ll have to watch for slushy snowfall accumulation, especially north Saturday into Saturday night. Most models favor northeastern Minnesota for potential snowfall Saturday.

The mild weather continues into early next week with signs we’ll finally cool off toward normal temperatures midweek. The normal highs range from 16 degrees north to 25 south by New Year’s Day.
