The return of winter as temperatures continue to drop in the start of 2025. Light flurries are possible with the arrival of the cold air, though no significant snowstorms are expected in the near future.

Cloud cover and light flurries in the forecast as temperatures continue to fall on New Year’s Day. Highs on Wednesday afternoon are expected to reach the upper teens to low 20s in central and southern Minnesota, with lower to mid teens forecasted for the northern areas.

Lows drop into the single digits and teens across the state with light flurries continuing. 

Arctic sunshine expected for Thursday and Friday with highs in the teens and 20s, and single digits up north.

We will see a change in our weather pattern, as a weather system will track to our south and move across the Lower and Mid Mississippi Valley. Precipitation will be limited to southern Minnesota, but further information is needed on the exact track of this system. 

The cold air continues this weekend with sub-zero morning wind chills. And highs running 10-15 degrees below average.
