As nights remain cold and daylight is meager, nothing sounds better than warming by a fire with loved ones. Help celebrate this time of year with “Heart and Hearth,” a special broadcast from MPR News.

Enjoy a conversation about why winter is a perfect time for storytelling — and an original short story from author Benjamin Percy. Then, join senior arts reporter and critic Alex V. Cipolle as she explores a world of Russian art, questions of trust and the mystery of mushrooms for the latest installment of Art Friend.

Listen live on New Year’s Day, 2025, at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. or by using the player above.

“Heart and Hearth” is hosted and produced by Jacob Aloi, with editorial direction from Max Sparber. The “Art Friend” portion was produced and reported by Alex V. Cipolle.

This activity is made possible in part by the Minnesota Legacy Amendment's Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund.
