Cold weather advisories and extreme cold warnings remain in effect as the weekend comes to a close. Portions of the northern Twin Cities metro area are now included in the extreme cold warning. Highs will stay subzero through Tuesday morning, with a shift to milder air expected to bring light snow and more seasonal temperatures afterward.

Low temperatures will plummet into the teens and 20s below zero, with northern Minnesota potentially seeing readings as low as 30 below zero.

Sunny skies and arctic temperatures are expected Monday for Martin Luther King Jr. Day, with highs reaching only the single digits below zero in the metro. 

Monday night will bring the coldest temperatures of the current air mass and the winter season so far. Windchills will plummet to a staggering 30 below zero, with air temperatures hovering in the teens below zero.

Seasonal highs return with light snow chances

Warmer temperatures will begin to move in with south-southwesterly winds on Tuesday. Above-zero high temperatures for Tuesday, and seasonal 20s returning by midweek.
