Snow is in the forecast for the Twin Cities, finally!
A narrow band of 2-4 inches of snow will develop around midnight and continue until mid-morning. Heavier snow, with rates of half an inch to an inch per hour, is expected in the Twin Cities during the morning rush hour, particularly between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. Snowfall totals will decrease significantly just to the north and south of this band.

A winter weather advisory will go into effect across central Minnesota at 9 p.m. and for the north metro and western Wisconsin at midnight.

Snowfall totals will vary significantly with this system. The south metro may see just a trace of snow, while the north Twin Cities could receive up to 4 inches. The heaviest snow totals will be in western and central Minnesota, where some areas could see up to 6 inches.
Low temperatures Sunday night will drop to the 20s for the southeastern portions, and much cooler single digits below zero for the northwest.
Temperatures next week will be at or below seasonal averages, with multiple chances for accumulating snow. The first system will move in Wednesday into Thursday, followed by a second chance Friday night into Saturday. Stay tuned for more details as we get closer.
