Two dead, one injured in two Minneapolis shootings

Minneapolis police are investigating two shootings — in the span of about five hours late Thursday and early Friday — which left two people dead and another person injured.

According to a police department news release, officers responded to reports of the first shooting just before 9 p.m. Thursday on the 2400 block of 18th Ave. South. They found an injured 31-year-old man who they believe was shot at close range. He was transported to a hospital, where he later died.

Police said a group of three or four people ran from the scene before officers arrived.

Police were called to a separate shooting around 1:45 a.m. Friday at a residence on the 2500 block of 26th Ave. North. Inside the home they found a man in his 20s suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency responders attempted to provide medical care, but he died at the scene.

A woman in her 20s suffered non-life threatening gunshot injuries. She was transported to a hospital.

Police said they believe shots were fired from outside the residence, in a targeted shooting.

At last report there were no arrests in either case. Police said there are no apparent connections between the two shootings.
